Wisconsin football learns commitment date for three-star safety
While Marcus Turpin isn't an in-state recruit, the 6-foot-2 safety still has the Wisconsin Badgers in his Top 6. Not only is Wisconsin in the running to land the three-star athlete, but he recently revealed he'd be announcing his commitment on Thursday, June 25 . Currently, Wisconsin is competing against Virginia, Duke, Wake Forest, West Virginia, and Northwestern.
With only two Big Ten teams remaining, the Badgers know the Wildcats are one of their biggest competitions. That said, Turpin is a Maryland native. Currently, he plays for Gilman High School in Baltimore, so that gives a clear explanation on some of the teams he chose to move this far in his recruiting journey.
One of the most interesting things about Turpin's announcement is that Wisconsin offered on April 13 . Just six days after the Badgers offered, he placed them among his top schools, which is a big deal for head coach Luke Fickell. Of the teams in his top six, Duke and Virginia were the only two to be among the first 15 schools that extended an offer.
According to 247Sports , Turpin is set to visit with the Cavaliers on June 12 and the Blue Devils on June 19.
