An ugly start to the Boston Red Sox season has certainly posed some questions about what the organization might look like in the future.

There were already questions about who the Red Sox would decide to move on from at the deadline, and there seems to be a clearer answer now than just a few months ago. The Red Sox certainly need to do a better job of figuring out this outfield situation, which makes somebody like Jarren Duran much more tradable than he typically would be. The Red Sox just need to ensure they get a decent package back for Duran, though trading him now likely wouldn't yield the same return they would have gotten a few years ago.

Regardless, the Red Sox can't go back now, so moving on from him in a trade as good as they can make right now should be the plan. Regarding potential options out there for the Red Sox, the Cincinnati Reds pose as a suitor, and a recent trade proposal would be more than enough to consider moving on from him. Reds get: Duran Red Sox get: Chase Petty, Cam Collier, Deivi Villafana โ€œThe Red Sox would consider this trade while sitting last in the AL East, especially if they view the slow start as a sign to retool rather than push for immediate contention.

In that context, Jarren Duran is a valuable but movable assetโ€”an everyday MLB outfielder with speed and solid production whose value could be maximized before any decline or stagnation,โ€ Ryan Shea wrote . I really like the idea of getting back Petty and Collier in this situation. Not that both of them are guaranteed to be stars in the big leagues, but they have a lot of potential and are still relatively young.
