Rose Namajunas cleared from eye injury, calls for stricter punishment
Three months after suffering an eye poke at UFC 324, Rose Namajunas is finally cleared to train.
Finally. The MMA world can see Rose Namajunas get back to what she loves most ā fighting. Three months after her last bout, in which she sustained an eye injury, Namajunas (14-8 MMA, 12-7 UFC) has at last been given medical clearance to resume training.
The former UFC strawweight champion suffered a nasty eye poke during her decision loss to Natalia Silva at UFC 324 on Jan. 24 in Las Vegas. On Monday, "Thug" Rose provided an update on her health in an Instagram post and called for stricter punishments for fighters who commit eye pokes, regardless of intention.
"So you wanna be a fighter? " Namajunas wrote. "Three months, and now I'm healthy, finally.
Thumb and eye are all fixed up. I'm a bit out of shape, but Iām cleared to train now. I really hope eye pokes will be taken more seriously in the future.
