Eagles reporter doesn't see team getting 1st-round pick for A.J. Brown
One Philly reporter doesn't think the Eagles will be getting a first-round draft pick in an eventual A.J. Brown trade.
It was reported on Monday that the Philadelphia Eagles are expected to trade three-time All-Pro wide receiver A. J. Brown to the New England Patriots .
But what would the framework of that trade look like? At one point this offseason, the Eagles were believed to be looking for as high as a first and second-round pick for Brown. They likely won't have the kind of leverage to expect two high-end draft picks for a soon-to-be 29-year-old wide receiver with knee concerns, even if it is Brown.
NBC Sports Philadelphia's Reuben Frank went as far as saying that he does not expect the Eagles to get a first-round draft pick in return for Brown. Frank wrote: "I still think Howie Roseman wants to trade A. J.
Brown, but Iโm starting to get the sense he wonโt be getting a 1st-round pick in return. ... First-round picks are the lifeblood of any franchiseโs future, and when you make an honest assessment of where Brown is right now as a football player are you going to give up a 1st-round pick and an opportunity to add a 22- or 23-year-old player with his whole career in front of him on a rookie deal for A.
