🔻 DOWN! First relegated team in the Premier League confirmed Now it’s certain. After a dreadful campaign that even included a whole half of the Premier League season without a win, Wolverhampton, home to Brazilians João Gomes, André, and Pedro Lima, had their relegation to the Championship mathematically confirmed this Monday (20).
After getting a lifeline from Tottenham’s defeat, West Ham picked up a point with a 0-0 draw away to Crystal Palace. The result sealed Wolves’ relegation after eight straight seasons in the top flight. West Ham reached 33 points, staying in 17th place.
They can no longer be caught by bottom-placed Wolves, who have 17 with only 15 points still available to both sides. Burnley, 19th with 20, is likely to be the next to have its fate sealed. As for the final relegation spot, it should come down to Tottenham (18th with 31), the aforementioned West Ham (33), Nottingham (16th with 36), or Leeds (15th with 39).
Struggled from the start 😭 Wolves’ campaign stands at just three wins, eight draws, and 22 losses. Their first victory only came in the 20th round, when they beat West Ham 3-0 on January 3. Their only real “good spell” came between rounds 28 and 30, when they beat Aston Villa and Liverpool at Molineux and drew away to Brentford.
