UNC’s Seth Trimble enters portal as he pursues extra year

UNC guard Seth Trimble enters the transfer portal with a do-not-contact tag as he pursues an extra year of eligibility.

North Carolina guard Seth Trimble has entered the transfer portal with a do-not-contact tag and will seek another year of eligibility, according to a report from Pete Nakos of On3. Trimble has already used his standard NCAA eligibility, but the move positions him for a possible extra season if the association revises its rules. It is viewed as a safeguard in anticipation of potential changes tied to last summer’s House settlement, which opened the door for a so‑called “5-for-5” model.

Under that framework, athletes would receive five full years of eligibility beginning immediately after their high school graduation or their 19th birthday. Trimble meets those criteria, putting him in line for a fifth year if the proposal takes effect. Trimble is not the only player to take this step.

Guard Denzel Aberdeen entered the transfer portal and committed to Florida despite initially having no eligibility remaining. NEW: North Carolina guard Seth Trimble has entered the NCAA transfer portal with a "Do Not Contact" tag, @PeteNakos reports. Trimble currently has no eligibility remaining.
