Houston Texans Draft: Tight End Early?

Offensive coordinator Nick Caley is a former tight ends coach, so it wouldn’t be surprising to see Houston show interest in some of the top prospects at the position.
They do have Dalton Schultz, who put together a very solid 2025 season with 82 receptions for 777 yards and three touchdowns. Schultz has been consistent and has built strong chemistry with quarterback C. J.
Stroud. But behind him, the tight end room is underwhelming. Brevin Jordan is a player the Texans like and would ideally fill that No.
2 role, but he’s missed the last two seasons and isn’t someone you can rely on to stay on the field. Cade Stover, a fourth-round pick in 2024, hasn’t shown much so far, but he’s still young and could develop into a more impactful player. Houston also added veteran Foster Moreau in free agency.
He’s a solid option, but not necessarily an upgrade over what they already have, which is why the draft becomes so important. The Texans hold multiple premium picks and will likely lean toward the best player available. If a tight end they value is on the board, it wouldn’t be surprising to see them pull the trigger and invest in the future.
