Jones is expected to undergo further evaluation to determine whether he will be ready for training camp and the start of the season.

The status of several key positions for the Pittsburgh Steelers remains uncertain heading into the NFL Draft, which begins Thursday. Steelers left tackle Broderick Jones reportedly suffered a setback related to the neck injury he sustained last season, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter . He is expected to undergo further evaluation to determine whether he will be ready for training camp and the start of the season.

Steelers general manager Omar Khan said on Monday that nothing has changed regarding Jones’ status, echoing comments he made in February when he indicated uncertainty about the lineman’s availability following fusion surgery. The Steelers initially downplayed Jones’ injury, suggesting he could return for the playoffs. However, he was unable to come back after suffering the season-ending injury in Week 12 against the Chicago Bears.

Jones was selected in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft. While the team awaits clarity at left tackle, questions also remain at quarterback, specifically, who will be under center and what the future holds for Aaron Rodgers. Khan said Monday that the team continues to have positive conversations with Rodgers and that his status remains unchanged.

The Steelers opened minicamp Monday without Rodgers , with second-year quarterback Will Howard taking the starting reps. Veteran Mason Rudolph is currently the only other quarterback on the roster. With the draft less than a week away, uncertainty at left tackle and the losing former offensive guard Isaac Seumalo in free agency could force Pittsburgh to take an offensive lineman early .
