High school track and field: Top performances (Week 7 update) including two near misses with state records

One of the most impressive performances of the week included Weber senior Josh Hamblin running a 10. 40 in the 100 meters at the Davis Invitational, as he missed the state record by just . 04 seconds.

At the Cavemen Classic last Thursday, Maple Mountain senior Brigham Griffiths jumped 24โ€ฒ00. 50 in the long jump, coming less than an inch away from Davis DeGrootโ€™s state record of 24โ€ฒ01. 25 from last season.

Another notable performance belong ed to Lone Peak senior Matthew Bryant in the discus. He recorded a throw of 205โ€ฒ11. 00, the first Utah athlete to throw over 200 feet in the past 22 years.
