WrestleMania 42 Night 2 provided a desperately needed course correction after a pitiful Night 1. But it also leaves WWE with more questions than answers.
Roman Reigns is WWE champion again — and you can't say he doesn't deserve it. Last night's WrestleMania 42 curtain closer was among the best main events of the past decade — perhaps even within the same bracket as Cody Rhodes vs. Reigns from two years ago — providing a desperately needed course correction after a pitiful Night 1 .
Who'd have thought just 24 hours earlier that we'd be seeing WrestleMania close to one of most hallowed chants in professional wrestling — "Fight forever! " — ringing out across Las Vegas' Allegiant Stadium? Quite the contrast to the anticlimactic shrug that greeted much of Saturday night.
It'd be unfair to say that CM Punk vs. Roman Reigns saved WrestleMania 42. Though that's largely because most of the work on that front had already been done by the time the match took place.
A superb ladder match , a great women's title bout and the immortalization of Oba Femi had already helped steady the ship Sunday night. Even then, though, Punk vs. Reigns managed to exceed expectations as the Night 2 main event.
