Birdie In Playoff Lifts Fitzpatrick Past Scheffler At Harbour Town
Matthew Fitzpatrick defeated Scottie Scheffler in a playoff at the RBC Heritage, securing his second tartan blazer at Harbour Town with a birdie on the first extra hole.

Fitzpatrick battled the elements at Harbour Town Golf Links as winds picked up throughout the afternoon, but he faltered on the 18th hole with a closing bogey.
“I got off to a great start, and I would have taken a playoff before we teed off,” Fitzpatrick said. “I knew Scottie was going to make a lot of birdies down the stretch, and I would have to hang in there a bit. ” Source: Golf Monthly Prior to the 72nd hole, Fitzpatrick’s putting and chipping had been stellar.
His ability to scramble after wayward drives left him behind trees, and his approach shots often left him with 50- to 60-foot putts on multiple occasions. His lag putting to tap-in range was especially impressive. “It’s a course that I love,” Fitzpatrick said Saturday after finishing the third round with a three-shot lead.
