The Colombian rider earned his step up to Moto2 in 2025 by winning the Moto3 title the year before, racking up an impressive 14 wins from 20 races. His debut season saw him finish ninth overall, and he claimed his first victory at Balaton Park.
Now heading into his second year in Moto2, Alonso is considered one of the favourites for the championship and has drawn significant interest from teams higher up the ladder. His performances have been strong enough that many believe it’s only a matter of time before he gets his shot in MotoGP. Honda has signed Alonso for next season, partnering with 2021 MotoGP champion Fabio Quartararo in an all-new rider line-up.
