Injury concern for Manchester City star after Arsenal clash

Injury concern for Manchester City star after Arsenal clash Rodri suffered a groin injury towards the end of Manchester City’s win over Arsenal on Sunday, potentially putting his participation over the coming games in doubt. Photo by Carl Recine/Getty Images Rodri was forced off in the latter stages of Manchester City’s game against Arsenal on Sunday, with Nico Gonzalez coming on to replace him. The injury was initially glossed over, given City were clearly trying to slow down the game with their substitutions.

It certainly wouldn’t have been surprising for one or two players to feign injury problems that didn’t really exist. But speaking after the game, Pep Guardiola revealed that he believes Rodri has a groin injury, and that the midfielder needs further testing. Photo by Mike Hewitt/Getty Images “I don’t know how long Rodri will be out,” Guardiola said .

“[It’s the] groin, I think the doctor said, but we will see. We will make a test tonight or tomorrow. ” A more serious groin injury could mean Rodri missing the remainder of the club season, but a minor injury could potentially still be impactful.

City travel to Burnley for a game in just over two days’ time, so unless Rodri is given the all-clear immediately, he’s a real doubt to feature in that match. But Guardiola’s side don’t play another Premier League match until two weeks from now on May 4th, so if Rodri only needs a week on the sidelines, the Burnley game may be the only league fixture he misses.
