Is Habib Beye already losing the Marseille dressing room?

Is Habib Beye already losing the Marseille dressing room? When Habib Beye replaced Roberto De Zerbi back in mid-February, the club were fourth. Following three defeats in their last four games, they now sit sixth and are on the back foot in the race for UEFA Champions League qualification.

Last weekend’s defeat to FC Lorient (2-0) drew harsh words from sporting director Medhi Benatia. He came into the mixed zone to denounce what he saw as a “scandal” from the squad that he himself built. There was, however, no criticism for Beye, despite the former Stade Rennais and Red Star manager’s results of late.

La Provence have reported friction between Benatia and the OM squad. Much of that precedes the Moroccan’s recent comments, although his words on Saturday have only served to deepen that rift. The publication now adds that many of the players inside the dressing room have now turned on Beye, too.
