The Scouser nearly left in January - or at least, was reported to be close - as Inter attempted a loan with option to buy. Liverpool eventually said no to that but the offer was at least considered. Now, with a little over a year remaining on his contract, Jones appears set to depart.
If he wasn't, then a contract surely would have been sorted. There's remarkably little talk over a possible new deal, however, and it feels near-certain that a sale is sorted. And now Liverpool add fuel to the fire by seeking out a clear replacement.
