LeBron James: Sharing court with son Bronny was 'craziest thing'

LeBron James called sharing the court with his son Bronny during an NBA playoff game the "craziest thing" that has ever happened to him.

In last season's regular-season opener, LeBron James and his son Bronny became the first father-son duo in NBA history to take the court together when both checked into a game against the Minnesota Timberwolves at the same time. On Saturday, in the Lakers' 2026 playoff opener versus the Houston Rockets, both were on the floor together again, and it was another special moment for their family. While the younger James did nothing statistically in four minutes, the elder James orchestrated the Lakers' offense well with 19 points, 13 assists and eight rebounds in a 107-98 victory .

The elder James reflected on the experience and how remarkable it felt for him to be on the floor with his son during a playoff game. โ€œI was on the floor with my son in a playoff game," he said. "Thatโ€™s probably the craziest thing thatโ€™s ever happened to me in my career.

Itโ€™s just so cool to be out there with him โ€” and his brother and his sister and his mom in the building. And his grandmom. Thatโ€™s just insane.

โ€ As long as Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves are out of action due to their injuries, the Lakers will need the younger James to play some meaningful minutes and give them at least a little bit of production. The 21-year-old got bigger chunks of playing time to close out the regular season and reached double figures in scoring three times in the last six games of the schedule. That gave people some hope that he may be progressing toward being deserving of a regular spot in the rotation of an NBA team.
