The Madrid Open is up next, and it’s another chance for the world number one to go after a title that’s still missing from his collection. Sinner’s victory over Alcaraz in Monte Carlo did more than just add another trophy; it also gave him a boost of confidence on clay. With Alcaraz already out of Madrid, the path looks a bit clearer this time around.

That could open the door for Sinner to achieve something no player has done before. There were doubts over whether Sinner would extend his rest and head to Rome fully refreshed, but the opportunity was too tempting to pass up.

He enters the tournament looking to win a fifth consecutive Masters 1000 title. A win in Madrid would follow his recent triumphs in Paris, Indian Wells, Miami and Monte Carlo. If Sinner manages to lift the trophy in Spain, he will become the first player in history to win five consecutive Masters 1000 titles – something not even Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal or Roger Federer achieved during their careers.
