HUSKERS SOFTBALL Recap – The Sweep Is Complete: #3 NEBRASKA 11 Minnesota 2

Yahoo Sports

The sweep is done. Mission accomplished. Iowa incoming.

Stay on task.

Kennadi Williams, pinch runner extraordinaire and daughter of Husker basketball coach Amy Williams, came roaring around 3rd base as the 10th run and an 8-run lead for the Huskers which would potentially end the game if Jordy Frahm could shut things down in the bottom of the 6th. Then the high school track star stumbled and fell. But instead of getting of getting to her feet, she just crawled home with the run – and many Minnesota fans were probably cheering her on silently to end a weekend in which they were swept and outscored 32-4.

Sunday’s scrap was close – for about 3 innings. Starter Hannah Camenzind was lifted after two, not that she was torn up too badly on the scoresheet. However, she was hit consistently hard and Coach Rhonda Revelle, with a fresh Jordy Frahm in the clip and Minnesota ace Sydney Schwartz on the flat hill, decided to pull the trigger in the bottom of the 3rd.

Three up, three down. Good decision. In the top of the 4th, the Husker bats then exploded for 4 runs and Frahm, as she so often does, helped her own cause with a 2-runs laser to left to pump the lead to 6-2.
