UH softball wins pair against UC San Diego

The Hawaii softball team swept a doubleheader against UC San Diego on Saturday in San Diego. In the first game, Kayara Tuiloma batted 3-for-4 with a homer, two runs and four RBIs as Hawaii rallied late for a 10-5 victory. Jamie McGaughey homered and drove in two runs, and Carys Murakami scored twice for the Rainbow Wahine, who scored nine unanswered runs from the fifth through seventh innings.

In the second game, Taryn Irimata pitched a five-hitter with two walks and nine strikeouts in Hawaii’s 1-0 victory. Milan Ah Yat homered in the second inning for the Rainbow Wahine, who swept the three-game series. Hawaii (23-18, 15-6 Big West) has won six of its last seven games.

Callie Howard pitched a five-hitter for UC San Diego (18-25, 7-14).
