Bengals, Dexter Lawrence trade official, plus a $28M extension
Done deal: The Bengals trade for Dexter Lawrence and give him a big-money contract extension.
Dexter Lawrence is officially a member of the Cincinnati Bengals . As expected, the Bengals are hitting Lawrence with a massive contract extension , too. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter , Lawrence passed his physical with the Bengals on Sunday and agreed to terms on a one-year contract extension worth $28 million.
That extension puts Lawrence under contract through 2028, tacking on another year to his current deal. He’s a $20 million cap hit in 2026 and a $22 million cap hit in 2027. Given the way the Bengals could move around cash in guarantees, we might not know the actual 2028 cap hit for some time.
But if Lawrence continues his high level of play, they might get together again on another deal well before that cap hit matters. In the end, the Bengals pull off a blockbuster trade, then pull out the checkbook to make things really official. We have acquired DT Dexter Lawrence II in a trade with the N.
