‘Violent clashes’ mar pregame of Bayern Munich vs. VfB Stuttgart leaving two officers injured, ‘around 100’ in custody
This got heated between FC Bayern and Stuttgart fans.

(Photo by Sebastian Frej/MB Media/Getty Images) | Getty Images According to a report from Bild , there was an altercation outside of the Allianz Arena between ultras from Bayern Munich and VfB Stuttgart: According to initial reports, several masked Stuttgart supporters ran from the subway toward the stadium and specifically attacked the Bayern ultras’ gathering point at the Südkurvenplatz. The Munich fans reacted—several hundred supporters, some also masked, confronted them.
Violent clashes ensued. The police intervened with a large contingent, using batons and pepper spray to break up the fight. Several hundred officers were deployed to bring the situation under control.
A large group of fans was surrounded by the police. 150 Stuttgart hooligans were arrested. Some of them are said to have traveled to Munich specifically for the riots.
According to initial reports, however, two police officers were injured. Police spokesperson Thomas Schelshorn confirmed the operation in response to a BILD inquiry: “Based on current information, a physical altercation occurred between ultras from VfB Stuttgart and FC Bayern Munich. The police were able to bring the situation under control.
