If Bayern Munich clinches against VfB Stuttgart, do not expect beer showers
FC Bayern is all business vs. VfB Stuttgart.
BERLIN, GERMANY - APRIL 29: Roy Makaay of Bayern Munich showers his team mates Owen Hargreaves and Bixente Lizarazou with beer after winning the DFB German Cup final between Bayern Munich and Eintracht Frankfurt at the Olympic Stadium on April 29, 2006 in Berlin, Germany. (Photo by Martin Rose/Bongarts/Getty Images) | Bongarts/Getty Images Thanks to another Borussia Dortmund collapse (this time, a 2-1 loss to Hoffenheim), Bayern Munich only needs one point to clinch the Bundesliga title when it takes the pitch against VfB Stuttgart. If the Bavarians get that point, there will not be a celebration per Bild (as captured by @iMiaSanMia ): Bayern are not planning any big celebrations should they secure the title today.
The traditional beer showers and trophy handover will only take place after the final matchday against Köln. Today, the players will only wear special shirts celebrating the title and then have a quick meal with family and friends afterwards. The focus will immediately shift to Wednesday’s DFB Pokal semifinal against Leverkusen, as everyone at the club is determined to reach the first final since 2020.
BFW Commentary Bayern Munich has had a different mentality this season than in some years past. In many ways, winning the Bundesliga is not representative of finishing the job, but finishing one part of the project. With the DFB-Pokal and Champions League still in play, that mindset could come in handy.
