Barcelona preparing for life without veteran striker as exit draws closer
Barcelona preparing for life without veteran striker as exit draws closer Robert Lewandowski’s future at Barcelona is looking increasingly uncertain, especially after he has reportedly turned down the club’s first renewal offer. Given his age and the club’s finances, it appeared that any renewal would only happen if the player agreed to reduce his wages. With that negotiating factor turning into an obstacle in recent days, however, his future has grown away from Catalonia with every passing day.
All but confirmed? As reported by Matteo Moretto in a recent report, there is a very high and extremely strong probability now that the Polish striker is in his final months at the club. No final decision has been made yet, but negotiations are not proceeding in a positive direction.
All indicators, thus, point to Barcelona and Lewandowski parting ways at the end of the season. Likely in his final months as a Barcelona player. They are considering their options, both internally and in terms of a new signing. As for Lewandowski, the player has several options at his doorstep including from the MLS, Saudi Arabia, and a few European clubs including Juventus as frontrunners . The door that has closed, however, is that of AC Milan who do not see him as an option for his age and salary.
Regardless of whether the player stays or leaves, he has made his legacy as a special player for Barcelona, especially as he arrived at a complicated moment and helped the team’s vital transition after the departure of Lionel Messi. His numbers this season, however, have been a clear indicator that age is catching up to him and a sign to the board that Hansi Flick’s attack-dominant football needs fresh feet as the number nine.
