NFL Media Editor Gennaro Filice recently released his latest mock draft , featuring a first-round trade for the Kansas City Chiefs to move up and select highly touted pass rusher Rueben Bain Jr. The proposed trade would have the Chiefs swap their 9th overall selection with the Cleveland Browns' 6th pick. "Having already spent a first-round pick on a pass rusher with substandard dimensions in George Karlaftis -- and then giving that player a $93 million extension -- Brett Veach and Andy Reid don't seem entirely troubled with shorter arms along the defensive front.
" wrote Filice , "Granted, Karlaftis (32 5/8) has nearly two inches on Bain (30 7/8), but the latter feels like the kind of guy who could provide disruption from multiple alignments -- a possibility that must entice Steve Spagnuolo. Kansas City sends Cleveland its third-round pick (No. 74 overall) to leap up three slots and grab a defender who nearly single-handedly wrecked this past season's College Football Playoff.
" The Miami Hurricanes' star recently met with the Chiefs ahead of the draft. He was hosted for a Top 30 visit, as Kansas City is rumored to have a strong interest in him if he's available. Bain finished the 2025 season as the ACC Defensive Player of the Year and Ted Hendricks Award winner.
He collected 54 total tackles, 9. 5 sacks, a forced fumble, and an interception. This article originally appeared on Chiefs Wire: NFL Writer's latest mock draft includes a Chiefs first-round trade
