Germany coach Nagelsmann: Gnabry's injury 'particularly bitter news'

Christian Charisius/dpa Germany coach Julian Nagelsmann said that he feels "very sorry" for Serge Gnabry after the Bayern Munich winger suffered an injury that could rule him out of the World Cup in summer. "This is particularly bitter news right now, as we enter the final stretch of the season with such big and important games coming up," Nagelsmann said in a statement on Sunday.

"We spoke last night, and I told him that all of us on the national team are behind him. We'll all do our best to support him so he can get back on the field as soon as possible. " Bayern said on Saturday that Gnabry suffered a right adductor tendon injury and is set for a "a prolonged spell" on the sidelines.

According to media reports, Gnabry is expected to be out for three to four months, therefore missing the World Cup in the United States, Canada and Mexico, which starts on June 11. He will also miss the Champions League semi-finals against Paris Saint-Germain on April 28 and May 6.
