Georgia Bulldogs running back Nate Frazier left the spring game due to an ankle injury. Kirby Smart updates his status

Georgia Bulldogs star running back Nate Frazier left the G-Day spring game after just one carry with the red team. Frazier exited with an ankle injury and did not return. Frazier was the most notable Georgia player to suffer an injury in the spring game.

In his absence, running backs Dwight Phillips, Dante Dowdell and Chauncey Bowens all stepped up. โ€œPrecautionary. He (Nate Frazier) had an ankle injury in the last game (the Sugar Bowl loss to Ole Miss ),โ€ Georgia coach Kirby Smart said after the spring game.

โ€œHe reaggravated it on the first play and we shut him down after that. โ€ While Frazier missing the spring game was a bummer, it does not appear that his status for fall camp would be in doubt. We'll know more over the upcoming weeks.

Frazier will have a long time to heal up before Georgia's 2026 season opener against Tennessee State on Sept. 5. The junior is a likely preseason All-SEC selection and is expected to play a big role for Georgia this fall.
