COMMITMENT: Texas Football lands 2027 four-star EDGE Derwin Fields
Texas football made a big addition to its 2027 recruiting class on Saturday with the commitment of Brookhaven, MS edge Derwin Fields during his visit to the UT Campus for the T exas Football Spring Fan Day . Fields' visit started on Friday and ends on Sunday. It's Fields' first time in Austin.
The 6-foot-2, 230-pounder chose Texas over Ole Miss, where he had an official visit scheduled for the end of May. Fields had offers from Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, Florida, Florida State, Nebraska, North Carolina, Tennessee, Texas A&M, USC, and UCLA, among others. A consensus four-star prospect, Fields is ranked as the No.
196 player overall and the No. 20 edge, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings . In his last two seasons at Brookhaven, Fields has 117 tackles, 47 tackles for loss, 27 sacks and three forced fumbles.
