Who came away with Auburn football's offensive and defensive MVPs from Saturday's A-Day game?

The Auburn media voted freshman wide receiver DeShawn Spencer offensive MVP and sophomore EDGE Jared Smith defensive MVP of the Auburn A-Day spring game . The freshman wide receiver had a busy day hauling in passes. Spencer finished with nine receptions for 93 yards receiving on 10 targets.

His longest play came on a 23-yard reception and had 33 yards after the catch. Auburn could have a vital role in developing in the young freshman from Mobile, Alabama. On the defensive side of the ball, it was 6-foot-6 sophomore EDGE Jared Smith taking home defensive MVP.

Smith recorded one tackle and a 75-yard pick-six. He had picked off the ball in the middle of the field from starting quarterback Byrum Brown. All around, the defense shone in today's spring game.

The unit had four interceptions, nine tackles for a loss, seven sacks, and two pass breakups. The offense did not really have too many flashy plays from its starters. Head coach Alex Golesh and his staff still have four months to get this team ready for week one against Baylor in Atlanta.
