Giants trading former Clemson star Dexter Lawrence to Bengals
Former Clemson star defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence is being traded by the New York Giants.
Defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence has been traded by the New York Giants to the Cincinnati Bengals , according to a report from ESPNโs Adam Schefter. The move comes after reports surfaced that Lawrence had requested a trade from New York, with contract discussions between the two sides failing to produce an agreement in recent seasons. The Giants selected Lawrence in the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft, and he developed into one of the teamโs most consistent defensive players during his tenure.
Before entering the NFL, Lawrence built his reputation at Clemson , where he emerged as one of the top defensive linemen in program history. Across 40 games, including 36 starts, he totaled 162 tackles, 20 tackles for loss, 11 sacks, and 43 quarterback pressures. He earned three All-ACC selections and was named a first-team All-American.
Since joining the Giants, Lawrence has continued to produce at a high level. Over his professional career, he has recorded more than 340 tackles and 30. 5 sacks, establishing himself as a reliable presence on the interior defensive line.
