WrestleMania 42 results: Paige returns, takes injured Nicki Bella's spot in championship match

Longtime fan-favorite Paige returned to WWE to fill in for Nicki Bella at WrestleMania 42.

Paige is back in the WWE. Mike Marsland via Getty Images The first surprise of WrestleMania 42 weekend came at Night 1 in Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas when Paige made her WWE return. After a recent injury to Nicki Bella, sister Brie Bella called on the aid of Paige — a former WWE Diva's Champion — to compete in the Fatal-4-Way Women's Tag Team Championship match against The Irresistible Forces, Bayley and Lyra Valkyria, and Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss.

Paige hasn't wrestled in WWE in eight years. Her last wrestling appearances came in AEW, where she held the AEW World Championship. Paige's final WWE appearances saw her work in a general manager role, however she didn't wrestle due to a lingering, serious neck injury.
