UFC Winnipeg video: John Yannis smashes Jamie Siraj, silences Canadian crowd
That wasn't the start Canada was hoping for at UFC Winnipeg.
The party had barely gotten started Saturday at Canada Life Centre when John Yannis decided to spoil it. In the opening prelim bout of UFC Fight Night 273 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Yannis (10-4 MMA, 1-1 UFC) made quick work of debutant Jamie Siraj (14-4 MMA, 0-1 UFC) for a TKO finish at 2:43 of Round 1. Yannis' hands looked crisp as he knocked Siraj down.
Siraj tried to utilize his grappling but Yannis ended up on top where he finished the fight with massive elbows. During the decision's reading, Siraj sported significant damage: a hole in the right side of his head and a swollen left eye. John Yannis plays spoiler and gets the first round TKO!

Austin Bashi in August during which he was submitted in Round 1. Siraj, 31, comes up short in his long-awaited UFC debut. The Canadian overcame significant health issues and near-death in recent years and took the bout on short notice.
