Alex Wilkins commits to Kentucky basketball via NCAA transfer portal
Mark Pope and Kentucky basketball landed a transfer portal commitment from Alex Wilkins, who spent last season with the Furman Paladins.
LEXINGTON — Kentucky basketball added another piece to its 2026-27 roster Saturday . Alex Wilkins , who spent his freshman season at Furman , committed to UK. He announced the decision on his personal Instagram account .
He'll play for the Wildcats and coach Mark Pope after a stellar freshman campaign with the Paladins. Wilkins finished the 2025-26 season pacing Furman in points (17. 8) and assists (4.
7) per game. He connected on 46% of his field-goal attempts (220 for 478). His 220 makes led the Southern Conference , while his field-goal percentage ranked eighth.
Wilkins also was accurate at the free-throw line, converting at an 82. 4% clip (117 of 142). His percentage was third-best among SoCon players last season.
