Former Kentucky recruit Jasper Johnson will be heading out west

Yahoo Sports

Former Kentucky Wildcats recruit Jasper Johnson has found a new home out west after entering the transfer portal.

Coach Mark Pope landed two four-star recruits in the 2025 class, marking what looked like a solid offseason for the Kentucky Wildcats . One of those recruits was guard Jasper Johnson , who had deep ties to Lexington and had the potential to develop into an elite scorer for the Cats. Unfortunately, he was forced to play out of position for most of the season due to injuries, and failed to find any type of rhythm or do what he does best.

As a result, he played little, and struggled when he did get on the court. After the season, Johnson quickly entered the transfer portal , and has now landed with the Oregon Ducks . Last season, Johnson averaged 4.

9 points and 1. 6 assists per game in about 12 minutes per game. He made 34% of his three-point attempts, and showed flashes of what he can do at times.

He just didn't get enough time to shine, being forced to be the backup point guard, a spot he clearly wasn't comfortable with. Johnson will get a fresh start with Oregon, and will likely see more playing time there than he got in Lexington. He's a talented scorer, and we wish him the best of luck at his new home.
