RB Leipzig beat Frankfurt thanks to second half turnaround Leipzig's Vandevoordt saved an early shot from Jonathan Burkhardt for Frankfurt within the first minutes as the hosts showed signs of an European fight. However, in the 70th minute after subs from both sides, Antonio Nusa got Leipzig in front 2-1 with a cut inside from the left wing as he beat the Frankfurt goalkeeper Michael Zetterer.
During the 81st minute, Conrad Harder secured the victory for the east German side with a third for the away team with an impact substitution goal through the legs of Frankfurt's Zetterer.
