Sunrisers edge past CSK for crucial win
[Reuters] Half-centuries by Abhishek Sharma and Heinrich Klaasen set up a crucial 10-run win for Sunrisers Hyderabad over Chennai Super Kings. With both teams hovering mid-table, Sunrisers posted 194-9 with Sharma's stunning 15-ball fifty setting the platform. Sharma's partnership with Australia's Travis Head flourished again as they added 75 in 5.
4 overs before Klaasen's 59 ensured they did not lose their momentum through the middle. Sunrisers' bowlers regained some control at the death with fine efforts from Anshul Kamboj and England's Jamie Overton to take three wickets each. However, many of their batters failed to convert their starts in the manner of Sharma and Klaasen with Matt Short's 34 the top score.
CSK kept themselves in contention with 18 needed from the final over, and were gifted a free hit by Praful Hinge, but the seamer held his nerve and conceded just seven from it to conclude an otherwise expensive spell of 1-60. Eshan Malinga was the pick of Sunrisers' bowlers with 3-29 as they climb to fourth in the table, with CSK in seventh. IPL fixtures & results IPL table [BBC]
