Texas A&M senior LB injured during Maroon & White Game
Texas A&M senior LB Daymion Sanford was carted off the field at the end of the first half of Saturday's Maroon & White Game.
Texas A&M Maroon & White Game entered halftime with the White team leading 10-9, thanks to sophomore linebacker Noah Mikail's pick-six interception return off freshman QB Helaman Casuga. Overall, both defenses have stood out, while Alabama transfer wide receiver Isaiah Horton has lived up to the hype, and more with 79 yards and 16. 3 yards per reception.
However, during the final play of the half, senior and Maroon team linebacker Daymion Sanford was injured with an apparent lower-body injury, hitting the ground in pain, and was led off the field in a medical cart with an air cast on his leg. This spring, the Katy, Texas native has stood out as one of the defense's shining stars and looked to lead the revamped Aggie linebacker rotation this fall. After recording a career-high 57 tackles, 3.
5 sacks, and his first interception last season, Sanford earned SEC Player of the Week twice last season and looked like the most reliable and versatile backer outside of veteran middle linebacker Taurean York, who has since departed for the 2026 NFL Draft. At this moment, nothing outside of seeing Sanford carted off with an air cast has been reported, but if he ends up missing significant time this fall, this will place pressure on Ray Coney and Noah Mikhail, while freshmen linebackers Que Beck and Tank King may be forced to see the field earlier than expected. Here is a look at Texas A&M LB Daymion Sanford getting carted off the field.
Air splint was on his lower left leg. Was able to get helped onto the cart, but rode it off. Sanford had a Maroon Team-high 4 tackles and one QB hurry.
