FC Bayern now only need one more point to clinch the Bundesliga title!

His brace saw that Serhou Guirassy’s late second half goal was nothing more than a mere consolation before the Croatian dispatched his second penalty deep into stoppage time.

Dortmund stay on 64 points in the Bundesliga table with the loss with four matches left to play, and a point from Bayern mathematically eliminates the possibility of their rivals being able to catch them. Even before a ball was kicked in Sinsheim, it would’ve taken more than a miracle for the German Rekordmeister to have surrendered the twelve-point lead they have at the top of the table. For Bayern, the incoming title will be their second straight under Vincent Kompany and their 13th title from the past 13 years.

Had it not been for Bayer Leverkusen’s historic title in the 2023/24 season under Xabi Alonso, this would be Bayern’s 14th straight title in the Bundesliga, which would’ve extended their own record of consecutive title wins. For Kompany, winning the title ahead of such a packed end of season schedule would be a massive luxury. With the DFB-Pokal semifinal against Leverkusenn looming large in the middle of next week and the Champions League semifinals against Paris Saint-Germain to come shortly thereafter, he’ll want his players to be as fresh as possible.

In theory, he could rest some of his key players for the Stuttgart match this weekend to keep them as fresh as possible for the key upcoming cup matches, or he could decide to go as full strength as possible to keep the positive momentum flowing as they have not failed to win a match in any competitions since the shock, 2-2 draw at Leverkusen in the Bundesliga back the middle of March. Either way, the fact of the matter is Bayern only need one more point to win the Bundesliga, whether that comes this weekend vs. Stuttgart, next weekend at Mainz, or even the week after vs.
