Yahoo Sports

A former Super Bowl champion with the Philadelphia Eagles was arrested for insurance fraud earlier this week, according to a TMZ report. Wide receiver Alshon Jeffery, who helped the Eagles win the Super Bowl in 2017, was arrested for insurance fraud. Jeffery was also being held for failure to disclose insurance benefits, or payment was booked on Wednesday morning, but he has since been released.

According to California law, the insurance fraud charge is a felony and can carry up to 5 years in prison and/or a fine equal to twice the amount of the fraud. Jeffery came into the NFL as a second-round pick in the 2012 NFL draft and split his nine-year career between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Chicago Bears. No further details surrounding the arrest have become available.
