Amari Williams on settling into his new home (and role) with the Boston Celtics

The Nottingham native spent much of the early 2025-26 NBA season with the Maine Celtics, however, occasionally getting run with the parent club when the big rotation grew thin.

They don't just call it New England because of the colonists who made a home there hailed from Britain, as Boston Celtics two way big man Amari Williams learned after being drafted by the Celtics this past offseason. "It's a cool city," said Williams of Boston. "I feel like the weather's similar to back home with a lot of snow and rain, but I feel like the summer's always the best part of it – so it's a good city to chill.

" "Not knowing if your name was going to be called or not and you know when it's a great team like this, it definitely made that feeling a lot more special, but it was definitely a great feeling," said the Kentucky alum of the draft process that landed him on the Celtics. "Even when you feel like it's probably not going the best of ways for you or whatever, just keep fighting through it and I'm sure something will definitely get positive out of it. "I felt like it was tough at first, especially throughout camps and stuff and summer league learning what the bigs do here," said Williams. "But I felt like as the year went on and I was thrown into different situations, I felt like it was easier to see what I'm expected to do and what they want me to do.
