After knocking out defending champion Jelena Ostapenko in the opening round, Andreeva followed it up with a 7-6, 6-3 victory over Parks to book her place in the last eight. She now takes on Iga Swiatek in what should be an intriguing matchup.
Andreeva holds a 2-1 head-to-head lead over Swiatek, but all three previous meetings have come on hard courts. This time, they’ll face off on clay, where Swiatek has built a strong reputation. The Polish star is looking to build on her impressive start under new coach Francisco Roig.
She began her Stuttgart campaign with a commanding win and will be eager to continue that form after splitting from Wim Fissette earlier this year. I will just try to talk with Conchita (Martinez).
” “Obviously, she’s a great player, but I’ll just approach this match as every other match that I’ve had before. “Obviously she’s had a good history on clay, so I’m just very curious to see how it’s gonna go. “This is clay indoors, so it’s still a little bit different, but yeah, I’m kind of excited to see how this match will go on a clay court for the first time.
