Fulham grew into the contest and started to threaten as Ryan Sessegnon lashed over the bar from a promising position.
As the game edged towards a goalless first half, Fulham were dealt a nightmare injury blow. Key player Alex Iwobi started chasing down a long ball down the left flank before pulling up and clutching his hamstring.
