Rangers Pound Out 15 Hits, Shut Down Mariners 5-0
Wyatt Langford, Josh Jung pace 15-hit attack as Texas Rangers keep Seattle Mariners reeling early this season.
The Texas Rangers wanted to come out on Friday night and make a statement in the series opener against the Seattle Mariners at T-Mobile Park in Seattle. They did that indeed, pounding out 15 hits en route to a 5-0 win over the reeling Mariners. It's early in the 2026 MLB season, of course, but Seattle finds itself now tied with the Houston Astros at 8-13 overall.
What about the Rangers? They are 11-9 and in first place in the American League West Division. Again, it's early, but Rangers fans have to be pleased with how Texas manager Skip Schumaker is handling the ballclub at this point.
Wyatt Langford went 3-for-5 at the plate with a walk and a run scored. Josh Jung also went 3-for-5, pounding out three doubles and getting an RBI. Corey Seager went 2-for-4 against Mariners pitching, collecting two doubles and scoring two runs.
Josh Naylor ended up being the top performer for Seattle on Friday night, going 2-for-2 at the plate. Brandon Nimmo led off the game with a solo home run off Seattle starting pitcher Logan Gilbert, putting the Rangers up 1-0 early. It was Nimmo's fourth home run this season.
