Aaron Civale got the start for the A’s tonight against Davis Martin for the White Sox.
Andrew Benintendi doubled to lead off the game on a ball that scooted past Denzel Clarke. Civale got the next two batters, but then Colson Montgomery doubled to drive in Benintendi. That gave the Sox a quick 1-0 lead.
In the top of the third, the Pale Hose strung singles together to score two more and take a 3-0 lead. While the A’s have yet to make an error, the defense is shaky and allowing the Sox to make things happen. In the fourth, Luisangel Acuña singled, moved to second on a Munetaka Murakami single to right field.
Both runners moved up when McNeil’s errant throw on a pick-off attempt sailed from Max Muncy. Civale got out of the jam when Everson Pereira lined out to left fielder Carlos Cortes. With one out in the fourth inning, Shea Langeliers hit a ball to the warning track in centerfield that bamboozled Acuña and bounced into the stands.
