Seaside boys golf team soars on front nine For the front nine on Thursday afternoon, the Seaside boys golf team looked like last year’s team. After shooting a team score of 315 to win the state title a year ago, the new-look Seagulls were on pace to shoot a 314 after the front nine on Thursday afternoon at Gearhart Golf Links. The Seagulls shot a season low 329 to outpace Tillamook by 31 shots. Senior Xanh Quang had his best round of the season with a 73. Quang birdied the first hole and was under par until his final putt on Thursday.

Freshman Will Haag had a career round as he broke into the 70s for the first time. Haag shot a 78 despite a double bogey at the 17th and a three putt on 18. Recently promoted Dexter Jenks made an impression in his first varsity round with an 88, Landon Nofield shot a 41 on the front nine to finish with a 90.

Gunner Norman was the fifth player with a 98. Head coach Jim Poetsch said his team is getting better every day and showed just how good they can be with their front nine performance. “We are getting better everyday and today were some glimpses of how good this team can be,” Poetsch said in a press release.
