Phantoms drop game one in conference semifinals
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – The Madison Capitols topped the top-seeded Youngstown Phantoms, 2-1, in game one of the Eastern Conference Semifinals of the 2026 USHL Clark Cup Playoffs on Friday night at the Covelli Centre. Madison’s Tyden Bergeson opened the scoring in the first period, giving the Capitols a 1-0 lead. He added a second goal with 11:14 left in the third period to increase the Capitols’ lead to 2-0.
The Phantoms cut the deficit to 2-1 in the third period when Cooper Simpson was credited with the goal following a review, as the puck was loose in the crease and players crashed the net. Madison leads the best-of-five series 1-0. Game two of the series is set for Saturday at 6:05 p.
