Speaking on the Podcast Auf eine weiß-blaue Tasse (via @iMiaSanMia ) the FC Bayern patriarch criticized Nagelsmann’s media habits, especially in comparison to Vincent Kompany.

“You’d never hear Kompany speak badly about a player, no matter what,” said Hoeneß. “He would never do that. That is indispensable in this media world we live in.

” “Julian does far too much through the media,” Hoeneß added. “You have to solve your problems internally these days. The media should do their own work, and you don’t have to feed them every day.

” For context, this comes in relation to comments made by Julian Nagelsmann after the Ghana in March, where he harshly criticized Deniz Undav despite scoring a goal. Nagelsmann was widely criticized for his comments at the time, though he recently revealed that he apologized to Undav after the incident. Bayern Munich fans who knew Nagelsmann during his time at the club will be aware that he sometimes gets carried away with making statements to the media, sometimes commenting on things that should be left alone.
