KC Concepcion is a natural fit for the Rams in the draft
KC Concepcion is a high-character player, which is one reason he’s a perfect fit for the Rams.
Recently, top wide receiver prospect KC Concepcion took to The Players’ Tribune to pen an open letter to NFL general managers in anticipation of the draft. Concepcion, who starred during his time with NC State and Texas A&M, took the opportunity to put forth exactly what he is about and why he will succeed at the next level. Here's what Concepcion had to say and why the Rams should take this very seriously in their consideration of drafting him.
Concepcion's pen does the talking In his beautifully crafted piece, Concepcion spoke about the many challenges he had growing up, highlighting a stutter that would be the basis of others bullying him in his youth. Already dealing with a variety of familial issues, Concepcion had to endure a lot, but he found refuge in his family's kitchen. Concepcion is close to his family, especially his mom, and one of the things that he would do as an escape is to make his family breakfast.
Weekends meant I got to wake up early and go into my stealth mode. I’d tiptoe down the steps before my mom and my little brothers got up," wrote Concepcion. "Then I’d open up the pantry all quiet and pull stuff out and be grabbing different things from the fridge.
It’d be like: pancake mix — check, bacon — check, eggs — check, those Pillsbury cinnamon rolls that come in that weird cardboard canister that pops when you open it — check. I’d do the pancake mix first, get that all ready. (It’s pretty easy to mess up pancake mix, btw.
