Joe Hortiz confident Chargers can find Edge value beyond first round

One of the Los Angeles Chargers' priorities still is adding another edge rusher, which Joe Hortiz addressed on Thursday.

During his pre-draft press conference, Chargers general manager Joe Hortiz highlighted the depth of this year's edge rusher class. “I think the draft is really deep with edges,” Hortiz said, “and then there’s some guys that are still out there on the street that might be available after the draft. ” Hortiz's comments suggest the team feels comfortable finding value at the position beyond the first round, which is when most draft analysts expect the Bolts to address the position.

With pick No. 22, experts have linked the team to several high-tier prospects, including Akheem Mesidor (Miami), Keldric Faulk (Auburn), and T. J.

Parker (Clemson). Beyond the first round, Derrick Moore (Michigan), Gabe Jacas (Illinois) and Dani Dennis-Sutton (Penn State) are just a few of the potential options. Hortiz also mentioned there are still veteran options if they do not find their preferred match during the draft.

As it stands, the Chargers only have 2025 fourth-round pick Kyle Kennard and Bud Dupree as depth behind Khalil Mack and Tuli Tuipulotu. Kennard, who is coming off a disappointing rookie season, has been adding mass to his frame this offseason. "Reports have been positive," Hortiz said regarding Kennard's body progression.
