Castles and Herring were part-time practice squad players for the 2025 Packers, while Johnson, a highly-rated undrafted free agent, was a practice squad member throughout the season and got into game action in Weeks 13 and 18 in the regular season.

As we described in our linebacker discussion earlier today , the Packers are oversigned at the position, at least as far as the 53-man roster and practice squad go, so it makes sense that Johnson was let go. Johnson received the second-most guaranteed money from Green Bay among their 2025 free agent signings last draft class, only behind nose tackle Nazir Stackhouse . With these three players removed, the Packersโ€™ offseason roster now stands at 74 total players, including exclusive rights free agents that the team has tendered.

Green Bay currently has eight draft picks in the upcoming draft, which would leave the Packers with nine available roster spots for either veteran or undrafted free agents after the draft.
