Sublime Gill stars as Gujarat beat struggling KKR
[Reuters] Shubman Gill's masterful 86 from 50 balls led Gujarat Titans to a five-wicket win over Kolkata Knight Riders, who remain winless after six matches. Gill dominated Gujarat's chase of 181, hitting eight fours and four sixes before he was dismissed at the end of the 17th over with 23 runs required. KKR's bowlers took the game to the final over but with just five needed from it, Gujarat reached their target with two balls to spare despite losing Glenn Phillips for 19.
England's Jos Buttler also made 25 from 15 balls in the chase. KKR's woes continued as they slipped to 37-3 in the powerplay, before Australia all-rounder and the IPL's most expensive overseas signing Cameron Green revived the innings with his first half-century of this year's tournament. Green helped KKR recover to 147-4 but they suffered a collapse of six wickets for 41 runs to be bowled out for 180 from the final ball, with Rovman Powell's 27 the only other contribution of note.
South Africa quick Kagiso Rabada was the pick of the bowlers for Gujarat with 3-29. KKR remain bottom of the table with just one point from a rain-affected game, while Gujarat are fourth. IPL fixtures & results IPL table [BBC]
